Liz and Tricia’s wedding at McMenamins Anderson School felt intimate, intentional, and deeply personal from beginning to end. Located in the heart of Bothell, the venue itself is one of the most unique wedding spaces in the Seattle area. Originally a historic high school, the property has since been transformed into a boutique hotel, restaurant, theater, and event venue while still preserving its original character and charm.
The morning began quietly as the couple each got ready separately inside the hotel rooms on the property. The atmosphere throughout the morning felt calm and controlled, allowing space for meaningful moments without ever feeling rushed or overwhelming.
Before the ceremony, Liz and Tricia shared a first look in one of the hidden garden spaces tucked throughout the venue grounds. Surrounded by greenery and soft natural light, the setting felt incredibly peaceful; almost impossible to believe the venue sits directly in downtown Bothell. The first look itself was emotional and intimate as they exchanged private vows together surrounded by the quiet garden atmosphere.
The ceremony took place on a cozy outdoor patio space filled with natural light and lush foliage. The secluded atmosphere created the perfect amount of privacy for a ceremony that reflected Liz and Tricia’s personalities beautifully; quiet, calm, and deeply heartfelt.
With a smaller guest count, every moment of the ceremony felt even more connected and personal. Every guest had a close view of Liz and Tricia walking down the aisle and sharing the emotions of finally tying the knot together. The intimacy of the ceremony allowed every laugh, smile, and emotional reaction to feel amplified in the best way possible.
One of the most beautiful parts of smaller weddings like this is how present everyone feels throughout the day. Rather than feeling large or performative, the ceremony felt genuine and relaxed while still carrying all of the emotion and significance of a larger traditional wedding celebration.
Cocktail hour continued the same relaxed energy established throughout the day. Large couches and comfortable seating areas allowed guests to settle in naturally and spend time together without pressure or formality. The atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and authentic; simply a group of people genuinely happy to celebrate Liz and Tricia together.
As the reception began, the thoughtful details throughout the space made the evening feel even more personal. Wedding favors, table decor, and the “Just Married” backdrop behind the newlyweds all added warmth and personality to the celebration without overwhelming the intimate atmosphere of the venue.
The reception toasts became one of the most meaningful parts of the evening because nearly everyone knew each other; or at least knew stories about one another. Every speech felt personal, emotional, and connected to years of friendship, family, and shared experiences.
The evening continued with homemade cakes, dessert bars, and dancing late into the night as guests celebrated together inside one of the most unique wedding venues in Bothell. Liz and Tricia’s McMenamins Anderson School wedding beautifully demonstrated how intimate weddings can still feel incredibly full, emotional, and unforgettable when centered around meaningful connection and intentional moments.
